Molecular and Biochemical Techniques

We provide bespoke services to design and optimise molecular and biochemical assays, generating the data needed to help our clients advance to the next stage of development.

Our team have a wealth of experience optimising molecular and biochemical assays, such as:

Recombinant enzyme assays

Recombinant enzyme assays are high throughput and robust, and as such form a key component of many drug discovery screening cascades. Our biologists have extensive experience designing a wide range of bespoke kinetic and endpoint enzymatic assays across diverse enzyme classes that have enabled our clients to identify hit molecules, pursue hit-to-lead campaigns and provide a functional readout for pharmacokinetic studies.

Western blotting

Our biologists are experienced in isolating proteins from a wide range of cells and tissue types to detect expression of target proteins by Western blotting. This technique has enabled our clients to confirm target engagement and evaluate signalling pathway modulation.

Gel electrophoresis

We routinely use gel electrophoresis to support screening cascades, enabling clients to verify molecular weights, assess sample purity and interrogate molecular integrity (for example before and after enzymatic digestion).

Immunoprecipitation

Immunoprecipitation uses antigen-specific antibodies to enrich a target protein or protein complex from cell lysates, tissue homogenates, or culture supernatants to elucidate protein-protein interactions or to isolate a protein of interest from a complex.

RT-qPCR

We are experienced in performing gene expression analysis on a wide range of cells and tissue types. At RxCelerate we routinely use RT-qPCR to enable our clients to assess the downstream effects of signalling pathway modulation.
