Scientific Officer

The RxCelerate group is an out-sourced drug development platform specialising in the design and delivery of complete drug discovery and development programs and project management for our clients, spanning from an idea up to and including Phase II clinical studies.

RxCelerate currently has an exciting opportunity for a scientist to join our in vitro team as we continue to expand. Applications are welcomed from recent or experienced graduates with a biology background and an interest in drug discovery. Working collaboratively within our Biology department, you will contribute to a wide range of in vitro projects including those involving our newly launched ProQuantTM proteomics platform. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the processing and generation of samples for LC-MS/MS analysis. In addition, there will be opportunities to contribute to a wide range of in vitro assays to support our client projects.

The Role

The successful candidate must be a careful and methodical worker with keen attention to detail and an interest in drug discovery. They should also be self-motivated and able to organise and perform experiments effectively, accurately and to a high standard. Excellent and accurate record keeping with a competent level of computer literacy are essential. They will have strong communication skills and be an exceptional team-worker. The ability to prioritise work within a dynamic and demanding scientific environment to meet challenging deadlines is essential. This full-time role is predominantly lab based.

Main Responsibilities

  • Generation and preparation of samples for LC-MS/MS analysis.
  • Execution of a range of in vitro assays according to established protocols including, but not limited to, functional cell-based assays and immunoassays.
  • Maintenance of accurate experimental records.
  • Delivery of high-quality data to tight deadlines

Skills/Requirements

ESSENTIAL
  • BSc/MSc in a biology related subject (with ideally 1+ year of relevant laboratory experience) OR lower level of qualification AND extensive relevant experience.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Proactive approach to learning and “can do” attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and the ability to quickly grasp new concepts and techniques.
  • Proven experience in data analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
DESIRABLE
  • Previous experience in preparing biological samples for LC-MS/MS analysis.
  • Laboratory experience in immunocytochemistry, mammalian cell culture, functional cell and plate-based assays, flow cytometry and/or immunoprecipitation/Western blotting.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant laboratory experience
